You Can't Pick Family

Being the head of the family, Zander was not blind to what went on, but he could hardly be asked to control the children. They were young and he wasn't much older. He didn't think they listened to him, which made his job a lot harder. Obviously there was a lot of difficulties for Zander, it wasn't like he didn't try to solve it. He tried hard, but Zander was just 23 and Had no idea how to deal with teenagers. It had just made him more aware that as a teenager, he'd pretty much been a brat. He hoped that all the teenagers he looked after would realise it, and would learn to grow out of it. It wasn't he was asking that much. He stood as the head of the family, slowly watching, as splits formed and each person had at least one other to be close to. Mara and Robin Kailey and Justin, Ciel and Kyle, and Jamie had Tyler. It was just Zander, Each had a pillar of support, and Zander had to be everyones. It had been a long time, since anyone had ever sat with Zander and asked him, how he was feeling. If he was sick. If he could have something gotten for him. Zander knew he had to be strong for his family, he could hardly let them down. Not with Jamie starting school in a few years and Tyler still so young. Zander had show them the path, so they would less like Ciel and Kyle and more like how their parents had brought them up to be. Zander had never thought himself to be in this position. It was a lot to put on anyone. Since his parents had died, some eight years before, Zander had been shoved with a pile of responsiblity that he found hard to handle and yet he had to handle it. Sure, he had the eldest of the twins to help out, but he still had to take care of them. He still tried to be sure they had more of a life than he did. As it became increasingly clear than Ciel and Kyle had bullied Kailey, he wondered if there was perhaps a way of stopping it. He had considering sending one to Beauxbatons and the other to Hogwarts Scotland, so they'd be apart and hopefully straighten out, but he couldn't do that. He didn't have the heart to split up any of the twins, and he knew that if he did that, they would hate him more, and Zander didn't need that. He didn't need that added pressure. It wasn't like they appreciated him, at all. He was just there, to make their life a misery, and that was what they thought. "We'll wait till, either Mara or Robin is up before we go. I'll get you washed and into different clothes. But, keep playing for now little man." Zander was kind to Tyler. He didn't speak to him like he was young child who could barely do anything. Even though he was treated like because he was one, Zander made sure to use the same, kind tone to all the siblings. It was as Zander looked away from the smallest Valentine, that Ciel walked into the room. Zander didn't bother to look at the boy. However almost as soon, as he'd been in the room, he was already acting like his usual self.

"Ciel, Kyle is still asleep. You can please stop this, it is too early. And I have told you about locking Kailey outside." While his voice was stern, it wasn't that of a strict parent. He didn't want Ciel to get annoyed, and do anything that would require Zander to then do more. He just put with whatever Ciel and his twin did. Because it was the easiest way for him,. It wasn't great and he knew his parents would be yelling at him if they saw this. But, Zander didn't how to control them. He couldn't be asked to do much else. It was too much for him. There were eight of them. And Zander wasn't exactly doing well himself. A small smile appeared on his face when the youngest of the girls entered the room. "Morning Jamie, sleep well? And myself and Tyler are going to Diagon Alley, would you like to come too?" Zander asked smiling at her, turning a blind eye to the Bully and the bullied. It was easier with the two youngest, they weren't constantly fighting. It was friendly. "Ciel, you and Kyle can come, And by that I mean, we head there together, and then while we are there, the two of you can do whatever you please." Just letting them do what they want. If they did start targeting Zander, which he knew they would never, they would lose. Since Zander was older, and allowed to preform magic outside of school, and due to the sport he'd done at school well-built. He took after his father a lot, which he was sure the twins would do too, but for now, he was the strongest, so he would beat them. But just letting do what they want generally was the best way of dealing with them both

Jamie nodded to what her oldest brother was saying. She always looked up to him, she never really knew their parents, not in the way he did at least, he was basically her mother and father. "That would be nice, and I did, thank you," she told him already moving away to get herself a nice breakfast. She was still young but growing up in her position she had to always be older then she really was. Tyler was always her playmate but she had to care for him while they played. With two years of difference she had to be the bigger person and let him get away with things and not complain. She looked around as she poured milk into her cereal bowl, two of her siblings were fighting, but without Kyle there to help Ceil was at a lost. She always wondered what it was like have a twin, Kailey and Justin always seemed to understand each other when they were growing up. It must have been nice, Jamie figured. Pulling out a chair Jamie ate her breakfast at the table watching Tyler with his soldiers and hoped giving him the next number he would be able to figure out the rest, he seemed like one of those kids who were behind, which wasn't the best thing to have happen but she knew her oldest brother has always done the best he could. She only had to wait it out and accept his help till she could go to school and be out of his hair for most of the year. Jamie tried to be nice to everyone in her family, but the others always pushed her away, mostly because she was considered alot younger then them but she always figured she could fit in somehow. SHe was glad to have Tyler.

Kailey had to admit, she was acting slightly childish, but she was scared. She quickly hid behind Justin. Thus was easy because Justin was talker then her, but not by much. She really loved her brother...it was like they had a special connection.....like butter to toast, they were perfect together. "I've done nothing wrong to you Ciel. I think you only bully me because you need someone who won't get noticed if they die."

Everyone seemed to be getting up now. It was about 8:30. Ciel was up and being mean to Kailey. Jamie was up and helping Tyler count. Justin noticed that Kailey was hiding behind him. It was a tiny bit strange since she was 16 years old. Justin HAD punched Ciel before, Justin could be a little stronger. But Zander was up, so it wasn't possible. Maybe when he left...

Kailey wasnt nessacarily hiding behind Justin, she was just standing behind him, her chin on his shoulder, looking at Ciel. It was odd, whenever Ciel was around, she acted younger, like an afraid child, scared to step out of line. "Ciel tell me, what have I done wrong?" she asked the brother.

More than likely it was because of the train crash her parents had died in. She was there and her mother and father shielded her body with there own, so she lived and they died, and Ciel and Kyle had always held a grudge that her parents should've lived and if she wasnt there, if she wasnt born, they would still be here.

Ciel ignored everything that Zander had just told him, of course, he was their older brother, their father, and even their mother, but even so, he cannot just interfere with their life that much, can he? "Really? You did told us that? I can't remember.." Ciel said, smirking. Zander had indeed told them off from bullying Kailey, that they should really keep their hands off her, but no matter how many times he had told them that. Ciel and Kyle were always bound to do the same thing time and time again, and their excuse? They had forgotten. It would have been better if they had their parents with them, there would be really someone whom Ciel and Kyle could listen up to, but no, they just had to die too early. It was hard for the two of them to actually respect Zander, after all, he was just a few years older than them, they can't really look up to him as someone who really held the authority inside the house. "Whatever we please? Cool." Ciel had always wanted to be free from his brother's control and of course, he would take the chance by then. Kyle and him would be able to have fun.

Standing up from his seat, he pat Jamie at the head, he can tolerate her much more than Kailey, why, he was not sure. He grabbed some toast before he return back to his previous position, yawning as he leaned further on his chair. He was bored, life had always been boring to him without his twin, they had their own world after all. He turned to look at Kailey when she started to talk back to him, why was she still there and why was she hiding behind that twin of hers? "Great kailey, I didn't know that you were capable of thinking..." He said, an annoyingly arrogant smirk making its way to his face.

Kailey started getting really wound up with Ciels little b!tchy comments. "Wow Ciel, I thought you had a brain and were male. Turns out your brainless and b!tchy!" she shot back at him. Kailey never got wound up easily but he had pushed her to the limit. "What. Have. I. DONE?" she explained slowly to him. "Or dont you have a reason?!" she exclaimed.

Ciel had had to laugh cynically as Kailey started to retort back. It was quite funny when she did that, after all, her lame attempts to actually insult him was not really doing her any good, in fact, it was just worsening her situation. "Can't you do any better than that?" He said, his voice low and flat as he yawned once again. He just knew it, nothing 's interesting when Kyle's not around, if only he was there, then Ciel would have been pumped up already, he would have been rather fixed into this bullying thing. But since Kyle wasn't there with him, everything seemed to be so dull.

"What have you done? You're mere existence is enough to make my blood boil...so, get lost." He answered back, still, without much enthusiasm, he had been expecting Kyle to be right at his side, throwing snide remarks at Kailey too, but he wasn't there, at this moment, he was alone. really, why the h3ck was Kyle still sleeping?

Jamison 'Jamie' Valentine was sick of her siblings fighting all the time. She never fully understood why the two older twins bullied Kailey, she loved all her siblings just the same why couldn't they have the same feelings as her. Reverting back into a childlike manner pushed her bowl farther onto the table before getting off her seat and into Ceil's lap. There needed to be something to calm them down and none of her siblings would ever dare hit her, even when she was younger and bad it was to the corner, not hanging over a lap to be smacked. She cringed at the harsh tone Ceil and Kailey were using. "Ollie? Are you going to come with us to...where ever we are going?" She asked him her small hand on his shoulder to get his attention so her older sister could make an escape. Jamie knew she could only stop the fighting and create peace for a moment but it was always worth trying. She even managed a young innocent tone to her voice, rather then the more knowlegdable one that was really her voice. Ollie was a simple nickname she used for Ceil when she wanted her way with things, usually it worked. She could only hope Kailey would get a clue and retreat into another room for the time being.

Bullying Kailey without Kyle was a waste of time for Ciel, that thing he was sure of when he had decided that he was tired of talking and listening to her random talk, she's just not worth her time by now. She's nothing but a toy for him and Kyle, but since Kyle was absent at the moment, he won't be able to enjoy that toy of his. Rolling his eyes at his Kailey, he had decided not to talk to her at the moment, at least, not until Kyle would awoken from that deep slumber of his.

He raised an eyebrow when Jamie started to settle herself on his lap. He didn't mind it though, for in the whole family, it was Jamie and Tyler that don't really get on his nerves the most. Perhaps it was because they were too young to be annoyed at. "I won't stay on this house with that girl, so, yeah... " He answered flatly, not even commenting on the fact that his younger sister had actually called him Ollie, she was the only one allowed to do that, well, Tyler too.

If Alezander was actually honest he was glad that it was just Ciel up at the moment. If anything, he knew that just one was always better than both. It was clear that either way, it wouldn't exactly be great. But one was calmer without the other. he could understand that. Twins were each others back up. It was the same for all the twins in this family. It was just the eldest and the youngest without that support. Without the back up to always be around to assist them. It was just how things had happened. Sure, Zander could hardly complain that much, out of all his siblings, he'd known his parents the most. he'd spent the most time with them. So, it would be hard for them to not know much about the people who'd brought them into the world. But, it wasn't as if Alezander Valentine was any happier about it than the rest of them. He smiled as he watched, Jamie gather her own breakfast. He had at least managed to teach her a little. It always felt good to watch the youngest siblings. Since he'd pretty much raised them, with the aid of his sister and her twin. He could sometimes see the mannerisms which belonged to him in Tyler or in Jamie. it was subtle things, but to him, they were just as clear. Just as obvious. He wondered some days if, were his parents still around if the personality of the younger two could be different. If they'd be nicer, meaner, spoiled. He couldn't know, but it didn't mean he didn't like to imagine. However hard he tried to not, to not think of what had been, he was 23 and looking after his entire family, it wasn't like he could stop himself. He pushed himself away from the table slightly, and glanced to the youngest male. "Tyler, what would you like to eat?" Zander asked the boy still playing on the ground around the table. he wondered if maybe Kailey or Justin had thought to get some breakfast for the youngest. But then it did not matter if they had or hadn't. As long as he did eat, that would be fine. He couldn't start asking them to be constantly taking care of the younger siblings. He had to do to that, and while the odd hand was nice, he needed them to have some form of fun. In his mind Zander was already forming a few thoughts in his head as to what would happen in this day. A list of sorts. "Yeah, But, we'll meet again at a later hour. Just try to not annoy that many people." Zander knew that soon both Ciel and Kyle would be free of him. He was sure at the end of the year, when both graduated, they'd probably move out and go off, doing whatever they pleased. Which hardly bothered the eldest, since it was less he had to be completely concerned with. But, he did feel, that the twins still had something here for them. As much as Zander knew he held little authority over them, this was still family. Ciel and Jamie were still close. So, there would still be reasons for them to stay.

"Kailey, please. Keep it down. And stop it both of you. " Zander hardly wanted to wake the other twins. They worked hard and would've gotten in late that night. He hardly wanted the younger ones to be the reason they got little sleep. He was pretty sure, that Ciel would stop, considering that Kyle was not around, and this made him ever so slightly weaker. But, then as soon as that twin woke up, then there would be havoc. Zander was considering asked Kailey personally what she wanted to do about the entire situation. But, getting her alone, without being interrupted was difficult to say the least. He did smile as Jamie went to Ciel. It was better if there was someone who made him stop. And Zander would completely lose it with him, and his twin if he lay a finger on the youngest. It was just too late for him to do anything about Kailey. "You'll have to get Kyle up," Zander address Ciel. He hoped that one day, Ciel and Kyle would at least just even slightly respect Zander. It wasn't like he'd asked for this kind of responsibility, they didn't really understand how difficult it was to be a teenager, taking care of younger siblings. He hoped that one day they'd at least respect the fact that Zander had tried his hardest. "Justin, I expect you'll stay here with Kailey? Make sure, she begins to get better. And you'll have to help Robin, I think he may have lost his job, so be nice."

Jamison grinned up at her older brother, almost ten years seperated them, and it was even more for her and Zander, which made looking up to them easier then it would be for Kailey and Justin. She glanced over to where Tyler was playing and then back again to Ceil and Zander. Considering looks, Jamie was the odd one out, having red hair while everyone else had darker blonde hair or just dark hair overall. At school she was the only red head in her class and would get teased because of it just as much as Kailey got bullied by Kyle and Ceil. Having a decent answer she pulled herself out of his lap and took care of her breakfast bowl. Jamie was one of those kids who enjoyed chores, it always made her feel good, even as a young child, to recieve praise for cleaning up her toys. Of course now Zander was out of school he could do magic, in a year Ceil and Kyle would be out too, then they'd leave the house which would give the rest of them more room. After she made sure the bowls waiting to be washed had been rinsed out, her older siblings not caring wether or not food would get stuck, she made her way over to see what Tyler was doing. His toys never really interested her that much but she still managed to play with him when they weren't in the muggle school. She was excited to go to Durmstrang, it would be a nice change from the muggle school, and her siblings will have all gone through there and would be able to give her important tips about the school.

While at the counter she pulled out one of the bowls that were always for Tyler, it had airplanes on it, military ones, which was even better for Tyler then just normal airplanes. She set it down on the counter and pulled out his favorite cereal, she heard Zander ask what he wanted for breakfast, but there was an understanding between her and Tyler. She knew his favorite cereal, his favorite toys, always knew where he last left his blanket. Pouring out the cereal into the bowl she got the milk and poured it in as well. Next Jamie brought it over to the table to the seat that had the booster so Tyler could reach the table. Jamie herself always found it difficult to sit at the table, it seemed extra high and the chairs extra low; but her and Tyler were the only two who had this problem. "Cereal for Tyler?" She asked down to him leaning over the table a smile on her face. She pulled away from the table and went to Zander holding her arms up like she had when she was younger. Jamie knew she was still small enough to be picked up and right now she just wanted to be in Zander's arms and rest her head on his shoulder, still tired from waking up not long ago. Jamison gave her best pout as she looked up to her oldest brother and father figure, she hoped he wasn't too busy at the moment to just hold her.

Ciel just shrugged off Zander's order for him to wake Kyle out. He decided not to listen and to follow him at all, for just like him, Kyle was not a morning person, and knowing him, it wouldn't be wise to wake him up. Of course they were twins and they were really close, but Ciel knew better than to take the responsibility of being the one to drag Kyle out of his room. Ever since they were young, when they still shared the same room ,they were always the one who would woke up last in the family, they were also the one who would sleep late. No matter how many times Zander had actually told them to at least sleep earlier and on time, they didn't listen at all. He knew that Zander was tired of taking care of them too, that he had better ways to spend his time rather than to look after them. He had been robbed of his teenage life when their parents had died, he took all responsibility. Some may think that it was a noble at to do, that instead of running away, he took their parents' role, but in Ciel's opinion, Zander didn't really have a choice. In his opinion, Zander had just been forced to be the one to take on the father role, in his opinion, Zander was just acting everything out, that's probably why, aside from their age difference, Ciel had never learned to actually respect his older brother.

His ears perked up when he heard that Robin, one of the oldest, had actually lost his job. That one's new. "Lost his job? What happened to him again?" He asked flatly, he might have sounded like he didn't care at all, he was just curious. Surely, he had more reasons to get out of the house then, he couldn't deal with Robin if he's really upset by then. No, he's not that good to dealing with overly emotional people. He watched as Jamie held her hand up for zander, as if asking him to carry her. Out of all the siblings, it were Jamie and Tyler who had the most respect for Zander it seemed, for after all, they were too young when their parents had passed away, he doubt that they could even remember their parents' face.

Kailey had a mean streak in her. She had this disorder when she swould just change. "Stop being such a baby Jamie! I was in a train crash when I was 7, I almost died, I was hospitalized for 3 months and I was there when mum and dad died and you want to be picked up? Your 9 for crying out loud! Im 16 and i get bullied by my own family, and I have a majority of all the illnesses" she lost it. Everyone in the family knew of her disorder, asthma and epilepsy. It wasnt fair why did she have to have all the illnesses.

When she loses it, it normally brings on a seizure...but Kailey was too angry to even care.

After a few minutes of saying those things, she immediatley realised what she done. "Sorry guys, its just......oh nevermind you dont care."

It was right to say that some days, Zander wished he could just leave. Just pick up his belongings and leave the house. Let he other older siblings take care of everything. While he left and maybe didn't lead a normal life, but one where he didn't have to go to work, worry about how things were for all the siblings, if they were okay, If they would be doing, and then have to leave early to pick up the two youngest from muggle school, and then work long into the night, to make up for time lost in his actual work. But, he couldn't. He couldn't just desert them. It was family, and no matter the faults or disagreements could change that. He had to continue because his parents through no fault of their own could not. He had to be sure that each would be able to succeed in whatever they did, so that their lifes would be everything that they had ever wished for. Not like for Zander. He had to make sure they all have the chance to be the best that they could. Marry and then have kids of their own. Zander hoped at that at that point each would realise how difficult it was. How it felt to be constantly worried about each, but know half the time, that he couldn't help. It was annoying for him, not to mention it made him feel as powerful as a muggle. Which wasn't at all powerful. He just knew that no matter how bad things got between each of the siblings he had to be around to help. To help try to make things better for each. No matter how long it took, and how much effort it would need. It would be what his parents would've done, so he would do the same. Zander watched Jamie, smiling warmly as she prepared a breakfast for the youngest. There was one thing that Zander had in common with Ciel, that Jamie and Kyle were to not be annoyed by anyone. Zander shrugged and shook his head. He had no idea how Robin had managed to lose his job. It wasn't like it had been that hard. He wanted to know, because him having lost a job, meant that there was less money coming into the family, and that would be bad for all parties. Zander had considered getting a second job. And if Robin didn't find one soon he would have to. "I wish I knew. If he doesn't get another soon, we'll have to start cutting down on things. And Me or Mara will have to look into getting extra shifts at the ministry." Zander shook his head. It was wrong to suggest that Zander hated Ciel and Kyle for how awful they treated Kailey, or how they had complete disrespect for Zander. He tried more with them to be less of a parent role, and more of the big brother role, he'd once been good at. Zander turned his attention back to Jamie who had her arms out for him. He smiled at her, and leaned down, wrapping his arms around her and lifting her onto his lap.

As he did this, as per usual Kailey had a little outburst, it was things like that, that Zander knew was the real problem in the family. For everyone, it was all about someone else, how they thought of at least someone else before themselves, and Zander knew she didnt mean it, but with kailey, It was almost always all about her. "Kailey!" Zander said sternly. "Don't talk to Jamie like that. You may have been with them, but you're not the only one to have lost them. We all did. I will not take you talking to her like that. I picked you up whenever you wanted to. Regardless of age. You are not the only one with problems. And I do everything I can to help you. We care, just, speak calmly." Zander knew that he'd probably have to stop Ciel from doing something. If he didn't then, he'd be surprised. He looked at Jamie and smiled at her warmly, Before kissing her lightly on the head. "I keep saying that we should go to St. Mungos to see if they have anything to help you. Would you want to go?" Zander guessed that she probably wouldn't want to go. He could just tell that, Kailey would probably not want him to go to so much bother as to take her. He would have to take time off work to be able to go with her. Zander didn't mind if he did or didn't. He wanted her to be in the best of health. She, like most of the others was making it difficult for him.

Jamie listened to the discussion of Robin loosing his job. She knew it must be hard for the three oldest to always care for the rest. Kailey seemed to be the biggest expense, but it wasn't her fault afterall she wasn't the reason the crash happened. But Jamie could wonder what it would be like if one of their parents lived instead. Life might be even tougher, Justin wouldn't be the same, Ceil and Kyle might actually be nice to everyone in the family. Zander would be gone, living his own life instead of raising them. So in some ways it would have been better for some of them, but overall the lost would be the same maybe even harder. Calmly she listened to Kailey yelling at her. She knew it wasn't always her own fault that Kailey had outburst but she was uncomfortable now as she was yelled at. Kailey was bullied and was always looking for a way to bully someone else to have that sense of being ontop, being the big man.

Jamie held onto Zander as he told Kailey not to yell at her. She was glad he was the oldest and not a pair of the two younger sets of twins. Her Tyler and Zander were the odd ones out, they didn't have twins and would never have that special connection to someone like the twins all seemed to have. But she got along with Tyler good enough which left Alezander to be alone she realized. Looking up at the man she called brother and father, in her head, she felt sorry that he had to deal with all the issues they brought him everyday. Holiday breaks from school were the worst, when everyone was home, the three oldest working but they had to cordinate their shifts so one of them was home to watch her and Tyler. Jamison now realized she had never been home and watched by Ceil, Kyle, Justin, or Kailey, it wa and odd sense of disconnection she had with them. It was easy to get along with them most of the time but they never really played with her or cared for her when she was sick. Yet she still cared and loved them just the same as her other siblings. "I love you Kailey. I'm sorry you got hurt. But I am glad you got the chance to know them, Mara is the closest thing I can ever have as a mother, and Zander and Robin are the closest things I'll get for a father. But the rest of you can atleast look back and remember them telling you they loved you," she stopped speaking her face was screwing up from a crying attack that was coming. Usually she managed to be a quiet doll in the corner playing with her things out of the way, but whenever Kailey attacked her tears came out and she could feel the rage Kailey had when she was yelling at her, inside of herself. Yet she didn't have any reason to yell back and the emotions would just burst from her in tears. Quickly she cuddled on Zander's lap curling herself up as if it would protect her from Kailey's words. Zander was her protector against everything, but Robin was always her playmate, and now it seemed he would have more time to spend by herside.
.

Kailey lost it. "You guys are so stupid!" she said to them. "It was 7 years ago the train crash happened. 7 years ago when mum and dad died. 7 years ago." she put her head in her hands. After about 1 minute of deep breathing (it was raining and rainy days are bad with asthma) Kailey stood up. She had remembered something. On the train crash, dad was filming everything and Kailey had taken the camera from him before the crash.

Kailey suddenly went crazy. She blew about the train crash that had killed their parents. Justin hated when this happened, he had flashbacks of that night. It was a very scary moment, Justin and Kailey were only about eight years old at the time. Today was a typical day at the Valentines household. Fighting and everything, always happened. He wondered why this happened, was it because of their parents death, or was it different?

Kailey sighed deeply. "You didn't see them die. It was awful." she said remembering seeing her parents take there last breath. Kailey started crying. This was how the arguments always ended...kailey crying.
(muse gone)

If this morning in the Valentine seemed weird to others, Zander could confide that he found it somewhat weird. But it also didn't take away from the normality. It was a regular occurrence. He tried to fix whatever situation arose, but, he was one guy. He couldn't always rely on Robin and Mara. He was sure they had hopes and dream prohibited by the fact they had to help him constantly handle situations in the house. It wasn't anyone's fault that things always went this way, just one thing lead to another, which lead to another, which lead to the entire situation getting out of hand before Zander could do something to prevent it. Things just moved quickly in the Valentine house hold. When he'd first started looking after his family, he'd been a mere 16 years old. He had no clue how to run a family. He just didn't know how to, or what to do with a baby. Jamie had just been young. He was barely able to keep it together most days, and yet, he'd had to take care of his family. Things had gotten slightly better, as more of his siblings attended school. Which had taken a lot of pressure off him, but it was the holidays he now found most difficult to handle. It didn't help that Kailey and Mara were beginning to look very like how he remembered their mother to look like. Even though the younger siblings wouldn't realise it as much, the girls were all pretty much the spitting image of there mother. Zander knew he looked like his dad more than his mum, and it hardly bothered him. His father had always been a guy that Zander had easily looked up to. He'd never found it difficult to be proud of who his father was, who is father had been. There had been a time, where Zander wanted to do everything with his dad. Following him around the house, constantly asking questions, constantly saying how much he wanted to be like him. Zander knew now, that he would be nothing like the father he had adored so much. But, the sound of Jamie's voice sounding so clear, since she was right beside him, brought the green eyed boy back to the room. Where he knew the most amount of attention had to be shown. As she spoke of Zander being like her father, Zander had to fight a sigh. He was nothing like a father. He was trying his best, but, he knew that it wasn't the best it could be. Although she had a point about how the parents had told all of them that they loved them. But, Kailey lost it. While Zander, watched as Jamie cuddled into him. He put an arm around her and held her close to him. He drew a long breathe.

"Kailey. Kailey, please." He sounded exasperated. Tired of this discussion and fight. They all knew, they all remembered that night. Him, Robin and Mara had been at school. Zander the only one at Hogwarts Scotland, the other two at Durmstrang. He'd gone to Hogwarts Scotland, after begging his parents to let him go. A childhood friend he'd met had persuaded him into thinking Hogwarts better, and then going. That day however had been the weirdest day of his life. He'd been so far away. As had the eldest twins. He'd gone by floo powder to a house near by, and had gone home to find a broken house. But it hadn't even stopped there. He'd then headed to the hospital where Kailey had been. He'd been so worried. He didn't know if the family could handle losing both parents or a sister. He had no idea how Justin would've turned out without Kailey. As much as Ciel and Kyle bullied her, it had still been a horrible few months. Then he had fought with the social workers to give him custody. He was sixteen at the time, but, it had been hard. They'd had to be placed in temporary care for the first two years, Zander doing most of the work to prove he could, while also keep up his school work. Then once he'd turned 18, which hadn't been too long after, he'd gained custody and he'd taken the task by himself. Since Mara and Robin were still in school. All in all, the first four years after his parents death had just been one problem after another. But, it seemed like Kailey wouldn't stop. He made to protect Jamie's ears. "KAILEY!" Zander had had enough. He was frustrated. It didn't make any sense to him while he was waiting. "Tyler, take your toys upstairs, I'll be up to get you ready soon. Jamie, go help your brother tidy up. The older ones need to have a talk." Every so often he was authoritative of some form. He put down Jamie and then turned his attention to Kailey. "Kailey," Zander got up and walked over, he had his arms open for her. A hug. If she wanted it. "I know, it must have been awful."

OOCOut of Character:

I thought it was the best way of explaining the situation, and how he came to look after them.

If ever there was a morning to take it slow, it was not a morning during the holidays. Maralina was the eldest female of the Valentines, and by far the one who took the longest to get ready. She, no matter what she could hear, felt no need to rush. She took it one step at a time, thinking more about the bigger future. She couldn't be living with all her siblings forever. She wanted to have a family of her own, and at 21 she knew that she had to act soon. It wasn't really a sense of duty she had towards her family, more, that for at least the next few years she knew the family needed her, and she was happy to help, because Maralina was a twin, and by being a twin, she always had someone. The night her parents had died, her twin had been their for her. As she'd been their for him. But, now 21, Maralina was looking into her future. She was currently at the London College of Commerce part time, which was despite it's name a University, and she was studying business. A way to get money easily. Because Maralina understood the importance of money. Both her side job and degree kept her pretty busy, but it didn't mean she didn't have time to help out Zander and Robin in looking after all the siblings. She had tried her hardest through out the years, but Maralina was hardly a mum. She was barely of age, and had only recently been home often enough to give Zander a proper hand. It had been odd finishing at Durmstrang knowing that she ((with her twin)) was the first of the Valentines to properly graduate. But, it wasn't something that fluixed the eldest female much. It had given her time to grow and figure herself out. Which despite what most would think with her background was an interest in muggle business and muggle fashion. Even if she was just in the house, Maralina took pride in trying to look her best. She always went for the same look her mother had. The long lush dark brown hair, that sat in the most perfect wavy curls. And the startlingly piercing green eyes, brought out by her pale face and the way her hair sat.

That morning was no different from most. She'd woken up around the same time, as she'd heard Zander get up, and instead of just heading straight down to the kitchen, she'd gone to the bathroom and after a long shower, had gotten dressed in a thin tank top that was tucked into her jeans, with a small belt to hold up the jeans. She applied a little make up, mainly around her eyes, to hide how tired she was, and to bring out the piercing green eyes. Mara slipped on her black stiletto heels and headed down the stairs to the kitchen. She had all her belongings by the door. She couldn't stay for long, she had to go do a number of things for university, and she had work. So all in all, it would be a busy morning for the young women. She stepped into the Kitchen and felt the icy air. "Good morning" The bright, slightly accented english spoke. She smiled at each of her siblings. Before going to Tyler and giving him a small kiss on the head, along with Jamie. The rest were too old for being kissed. She walked to the fridge and from inside took a bottle of water and then a bit of fruit. It was then she noticed Kailey, who looked like she was crying. "Kai, what's wrong?"

(Cant be bothered to change charries too much effort! )

Kailey looked at Zanders offer for a hug. She was too angry. How dare her family pretend to know how it felt! "Shut Up!" she yelled at him. She fingers started twitching. It was her sign of a seizure coming on. "You didn't see them take there last breath! You didn't see there injuries! You didn't her what dad said to me! And mum! There last words were 'This crash wasn't an accident! We were supposed to die! I'm sorry, I didn't know they would target you as well.' THAT WAS THERE LAST WORDS BEORE THEY DIED!" she screamed at Zander, tears spilling. Seconds later and dropped to the ground and started having a seizure.

"Calm down Kailey!" Justin said to his sister. She was yelling and screaming, just because of her elder brothers bullying her. This would end. Nobody, not even Valentine family members, would bully Kailey. Not with Justin around. Justin felt like the only real family he had was Kailey, even though he had other family also. Kailey was the best sister anybody could ever have. Justin had been known to sometimes calm Kailey down, maybe and hopefully this would work. Kailey felt the same way her brother felt about her.

Jamie followed her oldest brothers direction and released herself from him wiping the few tears that had exploded from her eyes at Kai's yelling. She gathered a few of the toys that Tyler had spread across the floor and held her hand out for him. Today it looked like she was going to be getting him ready to go shopping unlike what Zander had told them. Jamison did not mind the helping out she did mind the constant yelling through the house, it was a wonder how none of them were going deaf yet.

Kailey was always the one who started it, even when she didn't realize it. She would do something or say something that would push their older brothers to the limit and cause them to burst. Then in turn Jamie would try to play peacemaker, or calm someone down and Kailey would explode at her. It never seemed right, all the fighting but it was how she grew up. Jamie knew in other households there wasn't nearly as much fighting, but those homes were functional, the prefect family would be inside. Their fights would be considered a small disagreement in the Valentine household, prehaps equal to the bathroom schudule to not being followed, or something of equal stupidity. Jamie didn't even know if Tyler had been able to eat all his breakfast but she'd be sure to mention it to Zander later on and so he'd get an extra something for lunch. That always made Jamie question what they were going to do for lunch, if shopping took to long they'd have to eat there. They could easily pack a simple lunch and bring it, then they wouldn't be wasting money, which Jamie understood more and more of how much they did and didn't have as she got older. The shirt she was wearing would be considered old to other people, she got it when she was six and it still fit. Jamie kept her clothes in good conditions so they would last longer which was something she couldn't really say about her spoiled siblings. Of course she was too young in the family line-up to have the right to voice her opinions on those things and whoever did the wash each week was a different so no one really noticed her constant reuse of clothing. One shirt for each day with a few nice ones in her closet, pants were another thing her legs were always growing she kept using hand-me downs in between getting new jeans, though she actually prefered the hand-me downs. They were worn in and comfortable, and her closet hosted quite a few of Kailey's old clothing in there now.

"Tyler come on," she said after Mara came and kissed their heads goodmorning. She was used to it and enjoyed the feeling of being loved in the middle of a heated morning fight. Jamie was trying to get Tyler off the floor now and up the stairs, anywhere far from an emotional Kailey would be the best thing for both of them right now. "We need to pick out an outfit for you today, come it'll be fun," she said to her younger brother a smile on her face despite the tears that had left stains down her face.

It was just too much for Ciel. He had had enough of Kailey's constant outbursts, saying that she was the one who had suffered the most, the one that had seen their parents died. honestly, if she had wanted to forget everything that much, then why bring it up constantly? That's precisely the reason why she always gets on his and Kyle's nerves. She wanted their attention too much, and he hated it. "Shut up Kailey, stop with all the drama.. you're not helping at all", he said sharply, glaring at his younger sister. Everything needs not to be about her, she cannot complain all the time that she was the one who had witnessed their parents death, he knew that it must be hard, but at least, she was there in their last moment, and Ciel would happily exchange his role with her. If only Kyle was there, then he wouldn't have to be fed up with all those constant yelling that she was doing, Kyle would know what to do by then, and of course, with him by his side, Ciel can do anything. That's the advantage of having a twin it seemed, you always have someone on your side, one that you can trust all the time.

He could have gone up with Tyler and Jamie upstairs, he wouldn't want to deal with all those emotional things that were happening to them at the moment, no, he wouldn't like that at all. "Do I have to involve myself in that talk?" He asked Zander flatly, if they were going to talk about Kailey once again, about their parent's death and about how they would cope up, then he wouldn't want to join, it's all non sense for him. Why should he care? He was about to leave when Mara came down as well, now, it was only Robin and Kyle who was not yet up. Really, maybe he shouldn't have left his room earlier, by then, he could have that peaceful time for himself. "There's nothing wrong Mara, she's just being her usual self, don't mind her."
