Elise was practically bouncing with excitement as she waited for the race to begin. She didn’t consider herself to be very athletic but the idea seemed fun. Ezra had been the one to suggest it so she had happily agreed. She followed her brother’s gaze and saw Dorain standing with some girl. She was about to shout out and ask what he was doing because surely he was lost. There was no way her brother’s stuffy friend would do something actually fun. But before she could the race was about to start and she did as instructed and tried to use the fact she was small and light to her advantage. @Ezra Ito

Artie had the strength of a beater, so this was easier for her to lift Elodie, or at least, have some sort of stability. But what about her hands? What if she stepped on a bee? A wasp? Or worse, a mole? "Hey, if you need us to slow down, let me know! I don't want your hands to get hurt!" Artie said as she continued forward at a good pace, not sure who they were passing or getting passed by.
@Elodie Wynshaw

Teddy took notice of what Amodeus said and adjusted, "Oh yeah, sorry!' He replied, bringing down his ankles to a regular height, "Go left a bit" He said, noticing they were drifting off course again.

@Amodeus Jones

Lucy knew there was going to be fierce competition in the race today, but with a team like hers there was no chance they would lose. It was only when Miro mentioned it that she realised they hadn't actually chosen roles. "Oh, yeah!" She agreed, grinning when she won the game of rock paper scissors. "Perfect! Let's go!" She grinned, dropping to the ground right away so Miro could grab her ankles. "LET'S GOOOOOOOO!" She yelled when the race began, charging forward at top speed eager to beat the older students and show them who was boss.

Ngawaiata had never been one to turn down a challenge, and one she could enter with her girlfriend was all the better. Some of her schoolmates did seem athletic, and she knew for a fact that Rāwhiti could beat her in most physical challenges, but Ngawaiata wasn't gonna go down without a fight. She grabbed Sky's ankles as soon as the race began and took off, driving their team forwards eager to take the win.

"I'm trying" he grunted as he jerked himself a bit more to the right and pressed forward. If he had extra breath, he'd have released one in relief for not falling just then. "Don't let go of my ankles" he called back. He felt like they were making headway on catching up to some of the other team. Benicio just kept repeating to himself Left, Right, Left, Right. @Tempest Vero

June figured she could try and distract people. Like smiling sweetly to Benico who seemed to want to do anything for her, if she made sure to give him some attention once in a while. But June focused, just as she had told Fraser to do. She noticed as her eyes went quickly to the side that they were one of the front runners. If not the one in front most. But they still had to make sure they kept in front. And she heard Fraser breathing heavy. '' We never give up! We go until we are over the finish line.'' June said motivated and than leaded him. '' We now go an bit to the right.'' she than warned him and made sure she went in the right direction.

@Fraser Fergusson

Amodeus giggled and veered back like Teddy instructed. It was easier moving when he was level, turns out. @Teddy Pirrip

Elodie smiled, focusing on her movement. "Thanks Artie!" She called back. "I'll definitely let you know," She agreed, putting one hand in front of the other. "I'm doing good right now," She reassured her. @Artemis Vasilakis

Fraser nodded, intending to not give up, but he was moving quickly and this wasn't the easiest thing to do. But he did as she instructed, going a little to the right, and just trying to keep himself moving. Faltering wouldn't be ideal, and he didn't want June to lose because of him falling over.
@June Davenport

Tempest scoffed as she continued pushing Benicio along. Of course, she wouldn't drop his ankles... if he stopped moving her arms as he moved. It was the unfortunate part of the physical elements of the race, and she couldn't get her arms still enough and in a good position to hold his ankles without feeling awkward. She was also realizing in this moment just how little upper body strength she had. "I won't but you gotta go faster. Left, right, left, right, left," she said quickly, probably too quickly for him to move his hands unless he used magic. She tried to get her feet in step with his arms, adjusting his ankles so they were not so much in front of her and more on the side of her, hoping it didn't knock Benicio off balance. But she needed a better grip. @Benicio Matos

Teddy was amused by the Slytherin third year girls barking orders at Benicio and Fraser. He was quietly determined to beat both of those teams. "Doing great Moo!" He told Amodeus.
@Amodeus Jones

Emery hadn't really discussed with Rāwhiti who would be the wheelbarrow, but he wasn't surprised it turned out to be him. Rāwhiti grabbed his legs and started going fast, faster than Emery could keep up with. Before he knew it, he was stumbling, his chin knocking into the ground as his arms scrambled to get him back up. "OW! Rāwhiti!"

@Raawhiti Te Rangi

Anisha grumbled as Dorian said she should let him lead. It went against all her instincts, she wanted to be in charge. That was why she shouldn't be the wheelbarrow. She tried to go faster, arms straining. "Fine, but hurry up then!" She snapped at him. "We have to win." She added more quietly, focused entirely on putting one hand in front of the other. She stopped trying to drag them forward, knowing it wouldn't really help anyway. She would have to trust Dorian.

@Dorian Fitzwilliam

Ezra picked up Elise's ankles and tried his best to steer her in a clear path to the finish line. There were a lot of people, though, and Ezra was a bit cautious. "Careful!" He told her as he navigated between two other couples.

@Elise Ito

Artie was glad that Elodie was doing well, so she kept up her pace. "I hope you are having fun too!" Artie giggled as they passed up a pairing.
@Elodie Wynshaw

"Listen- Wait. What?" Dorian had been prepped to argue with Anisha about this, her easy agreement catching him so off guard he nearly stumbled as she adjusted her pace. He tried to set an even pace, trying to down out his awareness of the spectators and other racers as he shifted his grip on Anisha's ankles. "Okay now you're going too slow, don't give up entirely," he groused, urge Anisha forward, hopefully without driving her face straight into the ground. Why was this so difficult, this didn't seem like it should be this difficult. @Anisha Khatri

Elise hadn't thought to tie up her hair so it immediately started falling in her face so it was almost impossible to see where she was going. But she trusted her brother to steer her in the right direction. "Woah." she said as she wobbled a bit trying to avoid getting stepped on. @Ezra Ito

Rāwhiti was so focused on building up speed that he didn't see Emery toppling until it was far too late. Carried by his own momentum, he nearly ran right over his best friend as he failed to stop, instead tripping over Emery in a tumbling heap. "Owww, f*ck bro!" He grumbled, scrambling back to his feet and mourning the ground they had lost. "Come on, we can still win this!"
@Emery Mettlestone

"I aaaaam" he whined, disgruntled that she couldn't tell. Her timing was all off. He was on left when she said right, and he felt his arms trip up as his brain struggled to adjust. Benicio went down onto his face, eating some dirt. He fought the impulse to kick his legs away from Tempest. "Hangonhangon" he called back, spitting some dirt out. He scrambled back onto his hands and resumed, frustration growing. @Tempest Vero

Tempest didn’t understand why this boy couldn’t get it right. Hufflepuff may be friendly, but they sure weren’t much else. The Slytherin almost feel on top of her partner as his body stopped moving and she watched his face go into the ground. “Get it together - we’re almost there!” @Benicio Matos

Anisha groaned when Dorian said she now went too slow. She sped up again. "You're never happy, do you know that?" She asked him, turning her head to scowl at him. She then quickly faced forward again. "You go faster too, we're falling behind!"

@Dorian Fitzwilliam

Ezra grimaced as he saw Elise nearly get hurt. He stopped and leaned down to make sure she was okay. "Are you alright?" He asked, trying to balance her so she wouldn't fall over.

@Elise Ito

Emery cursed loudly as Rāwhiti tripped over him, covering his face with his arms just in case. He shook his head as Rāwhiti tried to get him to go on. "F*ck, no we can't!" He said, sitting up. "And it's not worth it. You be the wheelbarrow!"

@Raawhiti Te Rangi

Sky started to run on her hands hoping that she would be able to make it the whole way through. hoping that there was nothing spiky or sharp hidden in the grass. she knew they needed to go fast. if they were to have a chance of winning especially against the much smaller and lighter wheelbarrows. a win would be nice. but she knew there was only one person Ngawaiata wanted to be sure to beat, and if they managed to get to the end before her cousin it would have been a success.
she pushed forward focused on the grass in front of her that she didn't notice the sound of someone falling until she was practically passing them. she smiled as she recognised the heap to be Emery and Rāwhiti and let out a wooop "woo come on" she cheered as she continued hand running her voice slightly muffled from the angle
