Corey sat on a window ledge with a book in his hands. It may have been past exam times but he still wanted to make sure he did not slack off or anything. He knew he was a bit of a nerd and that caused him a lot of bully and as much as he wished it would stop, he knew it would one day. If he knuckled down and kept on getting good grades then he could get a good job when he left and then everyone would be jealous of him. Well that was what his parents kept telling him anyway. He sighed as he looked out of the window next to him. If he had been sat a few stories higher, he would have gotten a good view of the grounds but he had just come from the great hall and had decided to just settle here for a bit. He did like the feel of being sat here alone, it was quiet and that meant no one to come along and punch him in the face. He had got that so much recently. He still had a black eye from the latest one the other day. Turning the page slowly as he read Corey tried to focus on the words and not his life.

Joe was leisurely wandering back to the Hufflepuff Common Room as the day was coming to an end. It had been a long day, meeting new friends, and everything. But now Joe was tired and just wanted his bed and some sleep. Joe missed his family, especially Dec, who even though he was his brother, had been like a surrogate Dad to him over the years. Joe knew they didn't always get along, but Joe loved him dearly, and would do anything for him.

But nevertheless, Joe was thoroughly enjoying his time at Hogwarts. As Joe entered the First Floor Corridor he saw a kid sat on the window ledge. Joe was tired, and debated whether he should just leaved him reading or actually go and make a yet another new friend. Joe looked at the boy then headed towards the stairs, he took 2 or 3 steps, then changed his mind. Joe walked back to the boy and smiled at him. "Hey what you reading there?" He asked the kid in a friendly voice..."I'm Joe by the way..." He told him, in his half-broken voice as he held his hand out for the boy to shake. Most of the boys voices in Joe's year had already broken, and Joe was slowly getting there, he couldn't wait. Dec had always told him that the breaking of a boy's voice meant that they were becoming a man.
