Jack glanced both ways down the corridor. Presumably, there was no rule stopping him from knocking on the prefects' common room door, but he couldn't help feeling as if he was somewhere he oughtn't be. Perhaps it was just his guilty conscience. In the last week alone, he'd stolen wormwood from the school greenhouse, ventured up onto the cliffs, and and stayed out half an hour after curfew. The fact he'd more or less got away with it all made him feel even more contrite approaching the common room. He was a mouse in cat's territory about to ask cat for a favour. What could possibly go wrong?

Adjusting his grip on the book under his arm, he knocked on the door.

Having the prefect's common room was something of a blessing for Renata. Sure, given how tense things were between prefects after the meeting it wasn't exactly the calmest place. But it was also a little bit more spacious, and maybe with it being so frosty it meant that less people were around, meaning she had a little bit more time to herself. Of course, there was always the Heta Omega room, but this was a little different.

Either way, it did mean she had a responsibility to answer the door when there were knocks, and while she'd been caught up reading horoscopes, it wasn't as though she was doing anything actually important enough to justify asking someone else to do it. Renata opened the door, peering out to see a younger Hufflepuff boy. She was vaguely aware that there was a new transfer in third year, which brought back a lot of memories, and she suspected this might have been him as he looked a little older than a first year, but she didn't recognize him. "Oh, hello! Can I help you with something?" she asked, kindly.
