Ilvermorny Practice S1

Ocean hit a bludger towards one of the seekers @Jenny Tseng.

Melrose was sure his palms had never been this sweaty in his life, dropping his head as he nearly dropped the quaffle only to immediately fumble his attempt on goal and miss right after.

Ocean flew after another bludger.

Stomach writhing in embarrassment from missing another goal, Melrose hung back a moment, hoping maybe one of the other chasers wanted to take the chance to take the spotlight off of him for a moment.

Hadrian figured he should take another shot on goal, hoping to make a breakthrough sooner rather than later. He picked up the quaffle and flew with it a bit, just to make sure he had a handle on flying while holding it.

Melrose let out a sigh of relief as Hadrian took the quaffle, sticking close enough to him to make it look like he knew what he was doing.

The second the quaffle left Hadrian's hands, he knew he should have passed instead. The throw was awful, there was no excuse for that. He winced, watching as it went...nowhere near the hoops.

Melrose grimaced in sympathy at Hadrian's next attempt on goal, at least he had decent company in that front he thought grimly, barely managing to catch the quaffle again as it was thrown back out. Maybe he and Hadrian should hang out after practice he thought wanly, turning his broom to get some distance from the hoops.

Larissa winced when she was hit with a bludger, since she did not see it coming. She would have to pay more attention next time.

At this point, Melrose was happier just getting rid of the quaffle even if it meant being subjected to watching Pearl easily catch it once again as he made another weak attempt to score.

Ocean swung at a bludger but missed.

Hadrian was torn between feeling embarrassed by his own performance but also not wanting to be a show off anyway. He hoped either he or Melrose would make another breakthrough soon and picked up the quaffle when it was thrown back out.

In a surprise to no one, Hadrian did not score.

Larissa managed to locate a bludger, aimed, and sent it straight toward @Hadrian Murphy after he did not score.

Melrose figured maybe he and Hadrian were actually doing a good job by making Pearl look really good. He'd just swung forward to grab the quaffle again, though he nearly dropped in surprise as a bludger shot past and hit Hadrian, grimacing in sympathy. "I'm gonna guess you don't want this then," he called to the other chaser, deciding maybe it wasn't the best time to try and work on his passing.

With the hope that maybe Pearl had been distracted by Hadrian getting hit too, Melrose advanced on the goal. He was apparently still pretty rattled though, or maybe he really still just sucked, because the shot went wide. It didn't stop him from immediately checking over his shoulder to make sure there were no more bludgers coming.

It was only the idea of playing against Beauxbatons while still feeling as out of depth as he did right now that compelled Melrose to grab the quaffle again. Maybe he could make one more goal and prove he really deserves his spot on the team.

Melrose was sure he had it this time, what looked like an open line to the goal past Pearl. But he was still unsteady flying one handed on his broom. Or maybe his aim throwing one handed was the unsteady one, but either way he fumbled the goal, dropping his head with a sigh again.

Hadrian focused on the pain of the bludger hit and not that he was not around over the weekend and tried to tough it out. After a little while he gave a nod to Melrose and took up the quaffle, hoping if he scored he wouldn't be hit again.

Zoey wasn't thrilled with her performance during practice and it threatened to nag at her for weeks. But she kept her cool and stayed close to Hadrian waiting for a chance to score at least once.

Melrose was relieved when Hadrian seemed to recover enough from the bludger hit to grab the quaffle again, taking some of the pressure off. Zoey still scared him though, so he hung back even further, pretending he was practicing staying close to the opposite hoops or something as the other chasers moved across the pitch.

Hadrian's ego was getting the better of him in his determination to score, once again however he was reminded that he really should have just passed the quaffle off instead. Though he could have always blamed bludger pain.

Melrose's eyes cut over to Zoey again as Hadrian unfortunately missed his shot. He had a moment with a good angle where he could cut in and grab the quaffle again, but what if Zoey tried to take it from him? He hesitated, awkwardly grabbing it anyway as it was thrown in when he realized it was already coming his way. Maybe he could just pass it and get out of having to miss another goal.

Zoey huffed when Melrose positioned himself in a better spot to grab the quaffle next so she did what she did best at this point and kept close, putting on the pressure.

Melrose could feel himself sweating the second he saw Zoey get close. In a fit of panic, he threw the quaffle at her, more of a shove than a pass, but at least he didn't have to deal with her breathing down his neck.
