Part I: You How frequently are you online? All day, every day. How old are you? 16 years old How many other characters do you have on HNZ? 3 major, 4 mid-major and 4 minor. Part II: Your Character What is the name of your character applying for this position? Merry Forrester What staff position would your character most prefer? Potions Professor What are five adjectives that best describe your character? Introspective, serious, brave, jolly, kind. Why is your character best suited for this position? You should know that Merry already operates a Potions brewery of course, however I am certain that this won’t interfere with her work as a Professor, assuming she got the job. At the rate of customers to Clarity and my current real-life pre-occupations, I know that I will have plenty of time to operate within both jobs to a high-standard. This being said, I have hoped for some time that Merry would become a Professor, and if anyone has experience within the business, I am sure it would be her. Merry loves children, loves teaching and, most of all, she loves Potions. She would have the skills necessary to teach the older grades. She is also hyper-organised as a character, and has enough people in her employ to run Clarity if on rare occasion that I, personally, am not able to reply swiftly to a customer. I couldn’t miss this opportunity. Please submit a 300-600 word sample lesson role play as your character, assuming they got this position. “I really hope you don’t intend on adding that into your potion today, Higgins,” greeted Merry as she swept into the classroom, past the rows of desks. Said boy leapt in his seat, and began stuffing away the thin roots into his bag of potions ingredients. “It’s just miniature ginger, Professor.” said the boy hurriedly, before glaring at his Potions partner beside him. “It’s supposed to be like ordinary ginger except with stronger reactions to other ingredients so that-” Merry waved her hand to silence him, and soon the whole class was focused on their Professor and peer. “Miniature ginger doesn’t have that property. What you were holding was Hollyhock root, and though it will turn your potion pink and smell absolutely delightful, it won’t help a jot as a conductor for other magical ingredients.” The boy’s friend began to smirk, and Higgins decided it was a good time to slap him over the back of the head. With a sigh and a wave of her wand, Merry separated the two and they zoomed in their seats to opposite sides of the classroom. There was a flump as their book bags hit their lap a moment later. The boy’s classmates began to snicker, and even the suit of armor stashed in the corner of the room began clankily wheezing to itself. Merry sighed once more, and offered them an exasperated but kind smile. “Let’s get on with it, shall we?” The lesson passed much the same as the usual lessons did. Today they were not brewing, but writing. The class had let out a long groan at that, and a longer one than ever as Merry mentioned that there would be a pop quiz at the end of the lesson. However, everyone brightened considerably when she held up a sample vial of Sun-in-a-Bottle, a usually expensive potion that the winner would receive in miniature. Its effects were much like that of Lumos or Lumos Maxima when wielded, and perhaps it was much more a novelty just because one could say that they were holding a “Bottle full of sunshine.” It was also adjustable and permanent, and therefore fun for parties. Merry remembered spilling some all over her favourite shirt once, which she had to destroy after it nearly blinded her. Through their excitement, the lesson passed quickly and without incident, and even the embarrassed boy who had been tricked by his friend was feeling that much better. Perhaps it was also Merry’s, well, merry presence that kept everyone in high spirits. Her heart-shaped and golden hair often reminded people of the sun, she was told, and she bustled around giving smiles to everyone. Soon the lesson was over, and the students began to file out. The boy with the mischievous friend pocketed his new vial of Sun-in-a-Bottle with a smile. Merry sat back and watched till every last person had gone, and finally she was able to relax. She was well pleased with her student’s progress, and looked forward to handing out the Owls and Newts. In the meantime, quiet was all she craved. With a china teapot and a good magazine, Merry sat back and waited for the next class to arrive. Part III: Innovation In what ways do you feel that the site can improve? The site itself is perfect, just the way it ought to be, but more people joining up can’t be bad :). If given the opportunity to serve in a position of authority, what might you change about the site, what new things might you put in place or what might you try to accomplish? The most I could hope to do is actually help people to look forward to finishing lessons, and to make them as interesting and fun as possible. |

Part I: You How frequently are you online? Everyday 8+ Hours How old are you? 16 How many other (active) characters do you have on HNZ? How many are major? 2 Part II: Your Character What is the name of your character applying for this position? Drafis Firn What staff position would your character most prefer? Potions Professor What are five adjectives that best describe your character? Smart - When it comes to work and theory based things, Drafis is a very intelligent man that will go into as much depth as possible - teaching the students to the best of his ability. When it comes to asking questions, Drafis will answer them almost always correctly, and in a simple manner so that the Student's understand the message in which he is trying to get across to them all. Confident - When it comes to teaching, Drafis is confident. He will not feel shy before the class, nor will he hesitate to voice his opinion on matters. Loyal - Whatever the Job or position he obtains, Drafis is loyal to the top degree. Speaking very highly of all Colleagues, even those he doesn't like too much, Loyalty isn't something that Drafis faults in. Trustworthy - A secret is safe with Drafis. If you're having trouble in the subject of Potions, you can trust that Drafis will do his best to help you out. Stern - Keeping a Student in line is no issue, then again neither is enjoying his classes and being rather easy going. Why is your character best suited for this position? I believe that Drafis is best suited for this position because he is good when it comes to handling subjects and things of the sort. He is by no means over the top when it comes to giving home work, nor is he uncommitted. He is very helpful and loves being around Children, especially when you are providing them with more knowledge then they have thus far in their life. Having his son work in a Potions store, Drafis has a rather good understanding of the Subject itself. He is very clear when explaining things, due to the fact that Clarity is more important than anything else when it comes to educating students. Loving Potions himself, Drafis is by no means a man that does not understand his way around a Potions class-room and/or potions themselves. Having plenty of time on his hands because he has nothing much to do in his free time, there is no doubt that Drafis will be in class and have all lessons ready, to the best of his ability. Not only this but he has been longing to become a Professor, and this positions has come up at the perfect time for Drafis. Having studied the subject and getting a NEWT for it when he was in school, it is no secret that Drafis is rather good when it comes to Potions hence making him a good candidate for the position. Please submit a 300-600 word sample lesson role play as your character, assuming they got this position. Drafis came strolling into the class room, a large smile on his face. He was looking either side of him as he progressed to his desk at the front of the classroom. As he paced himself across the room, his voice raised so that the entire class could hear his words with supreme clarity, "I do believe that all of you have what you need for our Class today? Not just practical equipment - books to." Drafis' voice moved across the room easily. He had a loud voice when he needed it to be. The students searched the contents of their bags and, it almost seemed, all the groans and moans of displeasure were concealed through the sound of the rustling itself. Getting to the front of the room and spinning to face the class, Remus grinned as most students had their equipment out. "Now, you all know I'm the first to jump at Practical work over theory - But." there was a pause in Drafis' speech and the class looked completely irritated. They knew exactly what was coming. "OWL's and NEWT's are up ahead. Theory is a crucial practice to maintain you're understand of potions." now the classes' groans were heard. "Don't be silly. It's not too much we are writing here at all." Drafis smiled to them. Flicking out his wand and aiming it at the chalkboard, Drafis flicked away and as the words appeared he explaining the meanings - students should know this, but revision was a crucial part to their studies. "Lets go over the specific terms that need to be used in Potions." first up was brew. "Who recalls what a Brew is?" Drafis questioned, looking around the class. "You!" he said Joyfully in the direction of a student with their hand raised. "Yes Professor, I believe A brew is a liquid mixture made by steeping, soaking, or boiling solid ingredients in water." Draifs smiled and nodded, "That's'a'Bingo!" A few chuckles were heard around the class room, and Drafis wrote the meaning up on the board, next to the Word 'Brew'. The next lot, Drafis went onto write on the board and ensured the students that they needed to copy it down.
Looking around the class, Drafis smiled, "Make sure that you copy it down, Bonzi." Drafis grinned at one of the students who was picking the feathers off of his Quill. Looking up the student grinned, cheeks going slightly read. Walking up and down the Isle's Drafis, ensured that no students needed any more depth into the description. It was good to see the students working and having a bit of a laugh, realistically that was the way to go about things. If you made classes interesting and fun, rather then dull and all about study - then students would enjoy coming to you're classes. Seeing a hand fly up on the side of his eye, Drafis swept around too accept the question. "Yes, Cameron?" The boy grinned before he spoke. "Professor, Can you please move. I can't see the Board." Drafis chuckled at the comment and stepped aside. It seemed that every one had finished on time, and they were just waiting for the time to leave. Drafis looked at his watch and looked back at the class, "You have three minutes, I'll let you out early. Make sure you bring you're cauldrons next lesson." he nodded with a smile. "Dismissed" and with that the students swarmed out of the class room. Part III: Innovation In what ways do you feel that the site can improve? Nothing much. Its very good in my eyes. If given the opportunity to serve in a position of authority, what might you change about the site, what new things might you put in place or what might you try to accomplish? Perhaps add some more places for the Members / Family group to go to. I would also try and improve the class topics to make them more fun and enjoyable not only for the Professor's but the students too. Edited by Drafis Firn, Dec 12 2009, 07:45 AM.

Part I: You How frequently are you online?Almost everyday for almost 3 to 4 hours unless I have RL exams How old are you? 14 How many other (active) characters do you have on HNZ? How many are major? 2 but none are major Part II: Your Character What is the name of your character applying for this position?Anamika Kapoor What staff position would your character most prefer?Potions Professor What are five adjectives that best describe your character?Intelligent, friendly, cooperative, pretty and motherly Why is your character best suited for this position? Anamika is very good with childern but not little kids. She likes those who understand that she is elder to them and respect her.Anamika is also very dedicated to her work once she starts getting used to it and she loves potions as a subject.Anamika is also very unbiased when it comes to her students and she does not favour. She is not boring when she teaches something so the class won't be taking a nap when she is teaching. She is young so she understands the mind of students and can handle them accordingly.Anamika is also in need of a job so it would be really nice if she gets this one and she would not leave the job soon because it would be hard to find another one for someone this young. Please submit a 300-600 word sample lesson role play as your character, assuming they got this position. Anamika was feeling slightly nervous. It was her first class with the Sixth years and she was not sure what kind of welcome she would get.Anamika was not the normal kind of Professor.Anamika had a good batch of fifth year students but sixth years were the mystery. She walked into the Potions class room with a large book about Potions. She had decided to come earlier so that she could set up the class. She opened a small door behind her desk which led to a store room that held all the supplies and the equipment needed for potions. With a swish of her wand she bewitched a stack of cauldrons to take their places three on each desk. She then did the same with the brass scales and knives. She then took a seat on the comfortable teacher's chair. She waited for the students to fill in.As the students came one by one into the classroom she noticed so faces which she had seen in the corridors. She noticed a Slytherin boy whom she was sure she had seen in the Headmistress's.As each of them took a seat, she realized that there was a lot of muttering."Settle down, please."Anamika said in a loud voice as she stood up from her chair. The class fell silent."Welcome to your sixth year of potions. You have achieved good grades in this subject so you sit here today,in front of me." Anamika told them as she went to stand in front of her desk."This year I am going to teach you.I am Anamika Kapoor,Professor Kapoor to all of you."she told them."This year you will learn to brew four potions. The Hiccuping Solution,The Veritaserum, which is a truth serum. The Woldfsbane Potion, which prevents the Werewolf to turn into their wolf form when they drink it and finally the Draught of Living Death, which casts the drinker into a deep sleep. These are semi-complex but I expect each one of you to understand what you have to do.I will always be there to assist you." "Today we will start by brewing the Hiccuping Potion. The instructions are there on the board", she said flicking her wand to the board. The instructions appeared instantly.
"You may start."she told them. She took to moving up and down rows so that she could correct anyone if they did anything wrong.Mostly everyone was doing it correctly and without talking. All the students were very disciplined and Anamika was confident that this batch of students was going to be cooperative. Part III: Innovation In what ways do you feel that the site can improve? This site is very good but the way buying and selling works is kinda slow because sometimes shopkeepers/assistants can be careless and forget to post the things students buy in the gringotts account and the students have to suffer .If given the opportunity to serve in a position of authority, what might you change about the site, what new things might you put in place or what might you try to accomplish? I am sure that I would try to do something about the way the buying, selling and gringotts accounts work but I am not exactly sure what i would do.I know that there have been many tries to improve it but I dont know to what extent these have worked.
