Shy I Caring I Confused

Note: this is when Loreli was about six, before she started homeschooling :D. Also, Brahms Avenue, isn't real...

As fog set in around the small girl she yawned. her feet droned on, like they had day after day. She put her hand to her mouth as the long yawn came to an end, a small squeak following shortly after it. It seemed to be starting as a normal day, the morning a bit dreary, the clouds clearing away. She knew it was going to be different though. Her gut feeling told her so.

That morning she had practically begged her mother to let her stay home. She hated going to school. The kids were so mean to her, always giving her rude nicknames. "Shorty" and "Midget". Did anyone even know her real name anymore? She didn't think so.

She turned down Brahms avenue, and saw her worst nightmare. Shelly Ston-hang. She was the meanest and most popular girl in her class. Loreli walked on by, hoping not to be noticed by the tall girl, whom was two years older then her. Her hopes were not met.

"Aw, little Loreli looks lost." The cruel kids voice came out like a sharp knife. Loreli kept walking.

The group was made up of kids in their middle-school years. Why a bigger kid would pick on someone so small; so fragile, is beyond Loreli's understanding. She recognized two fifth graders, whose parents didn't live to far from her. and a fourth grader, who was kind of chubby. However, there were more, and she didn't recognize them.

"Did you do the homework, Loreli." She asked in a snide tone, a boy coming up behind her.

"Y-y-yes." She said looking down, sad. She knew what was coming.

"Well hand it over." Loreli did as she was commanded, afraid of being beaten down.

The girl pushed on Loreli, and having such bad balance, she tipped. She fell to the ground, a sharp crack coming from her wrist. The group walked away laughing. Loreli looked up, tears in her eyes. That's when she caught the sympathetic glare of a boy she did not know. Maybe.. just maybe, he wasn't like them. Loreli found that day, hope, pride, and maybe even a friend...

So if you guys can help me out, i know it's not much. But it is what i got.

Joe walked over to Loreli and helped her up.

"Are you okay?" He asked, in a worried voice.

The moment he set eyes on her Joe knew that he was in love.
