Transfiguration 1:6

Lesson Six: Learning Gemelitiar (book into a jewellery box)

"Good morning everyone, today's lesson will be kept relatively short." Leif said cheerfully as his students took their seat. "To begin, I would like you all to please pull out your textbook and place it on your desk. For a spell. We aren't doing more theory, you can all relax." He waited for everyone to pull out their books, nodding once it looked like every desk had one. "Good. Today, we are going to turn these books into jewelry boxes. Or trinket boxes, whatever you like to think of it as."

Leif paused as several students oohed at the thought. He walked over to his desk and pulled out a book of his own to be used in the demonstration. "We will, of course, be using the three tap method as usual. The incantation is 'Gemelitiar.' Like this." Professor Odegard tapped his book three times and incanted the spell, "Gemelitiar" and the book immediately changed into a beautiful jewelry box made of mahogany wood, inscribed with sentences from the books pages in reference to its previous form. Garnets and opals accented the boxes lid.

"Easy. Try to visualise a box that suits you and what you like, draw on familiar things that are easy to visualise, or memories of jewelry boxes you've seen before. I would like all of you to begin, I will be walking around as always. After you are done, use the rest of your time to study. Exams are right around the corner after all."

Note: "Finite" is a counter-spell, not Untransfiguration, and shouldn't be used to reverse any transfigurations.

Roleplay attempting to turn your book into a jewellery box for full marks.

Magne had been surprised with how quickly things had gone. He didn’t know where the semester had gotten to, but he was looking forward to the break. He longed to be out at sea, to sleep on a boat, to be with his parents. To not have to struggle his way through a sentence. He was looking forward to decent fish and being able to surf. He missed his mother’s cooking. It was just going to be so good to be home. Magne grabbed his attempts at homework and then headed out of the room.

Magne walked into the transfiguration classroom and took his usual spot in the room. He sat up and leaned in to be able to hear and understand all of what the professor was saying. He looked at the book and watched as the professor turned it into a jewelry box. Mage thought that was pretty cool. He took his book, and nodded along with what the incantation was. He wrote it down, and then the sounds he was supposed to make for it to work. Magne then tried the spell. Visualising it transforming and then said. ”Gemelitiar,” and it took him most of the lesson to get the spell. He was sure it was due to his pronunciation, but he did get it and was pretty pleased with himself when he did.

Ambrose could hardly believe the first term was almost over already, dreaded it a little even. He had worked hard and made sure to keep on top of things so exams didn't worry him but going home did. How was he supposed to go back to spending so much time on his own when he was now used to being surrounded by other kids his age? Although he guessed there was still rugby and music lessons to look forward to. Either way, life at school had been good and he was certain he wouldn't mind if the break flew by as quickly as the first term had.

He took his seat in the transfiguration classroom and took out his textbook when the professor instructed them to. Ambrose watched as the professor demonstrated the spell and turned his book into an intricate jewellery box. Surely, he wouldn't be able to get as much detail into it but it was a nice goal to work towards. Once they were allowed to get practicing he repeated the spell in his head a few times before imagining a very simple jewellery box. He then tapped his book, said the incantation and had to try this three times before his book started changing. Once it had, he made sure the professor looked at it and turned it back to its original state so he could revice for the remainder of the lesson.

Camille was not sure how she felt about the first semester at Hogwarts. It was so busy all those classes and she didn't felt she was doing well enough. She was always taught to work hard and that good was not good enough. But Landon was very different, and that's was why she had more fun in Herbology perhaps. Plants were interesting to her and it was nice to work with her hands. She had been reading so many books when she was younger, that it was less fun. But she never had dared to say that to her parents. They expected her to like it. And she was sure they thought of her as an failure if they could now.

The blonde made her way to the classroom and found her usual spot in the middle of the classroom. She did as the professor wanted them to do and took her textbook and placed it on her desk. She had no idea how she had to turn her book into a jewerly box, it sounded difficult. She watched the professor demonstrating and tried to remember how he did it. But she always felt pressure when doing it herself. Afraid of making an fool out herself. When it was her turn she sighted, feeling an pressure in her chest. She did the three tap method she learned and said ''Gemelitiar'' but nothing really seem to be happening. After a few more times with an pause between she tried and finally managed to do well. But she knew for certain June would be so much better than her. Her biological father had been right about it all along. When the lesson was over she left the room.
