Chase wandered through Bleak Street, deciding to come to the place where he had done the torture of Melodie Lowe. He still didn't have any remorse for her, for that. She had got what she had had coming to her. He couldn't have let her start telling people that he was a Death Eater, and still nobody knew. He didn't know if she had any memories of the day, though, and he had to be sure she didn't keep them if he met her again. Chase sighed, and continued walking along the path. He didn't know what would happen out here today, but he knew that eventually somebody would find out what he had done.

Chase wandered up an alley, and thought back to the last news he had heard about Melodie. She had become a teacher at HNZ, and he had no idea how. When he had left her, she was meant to be insane. He didn't know how she had even managed to survive that, let alone live to teach. He had been outraged when he had heard, and he couldn't believe how much his luck had failed him. Chase sighed to himself, and turned a corner, and stopped dead in his tracks. Melodie Lowe was standing there, right in the middle of bleak street.

Melodie didn't know what had brought her back to Bleak Street that day but there
was something nagging inside of her, something strong enough to make her truly
believe that if she went back there it would bring her some sort of resolution, let
her see where she had lain in her own blood begging for mercy at the hands of
a ruthless death eater. Even after all of her therapy she still didn't know who had
done this to her, but the same answer she heard from everyone was that it could
only have been a death eater. Melodie was eager to believe them as she could
draw no answers herself. She could now remember small bits of the attack, she
could close her eyes at night and see a dark figure standing over her, holding
his wand firmly in his hand, keeping her at his mercy. Often the veela believed
that letting her die would have been the kinder thing to do, he had left her in a
state that she would never truly recover from, her scars constantly a reminder of
her fall from grace that night on the cobblestones. Taking a deep breath in Miss
Melodie Lowe took a bold step forward and turned the corner into the unkown.

Turning the corner she held her hand to her chest, feeling the rapid pounding
of her weakened heart, somehow remembering even more of that night. Images
flashed in her mind, she saw herself on her knees, begging for mercy as her own
wand was taken from her, leaving her defenceless. But then as she tried to pull
her eyes open she saw her body lying in its own blood as her savour apparated
into the street and scooped her limp body up, attempting to stop the crimson of
her blood flowing from beneath her matted hair. Clutching her chest once more
Melodie checked that her wand was firmly in her other hand, this place seemed
even more unsafe than in her dreams, she wasn't looking for him here, she was
looking for her lost memories, somewhere strewn along this cold and unforgiving
street, left for her to finally pick up today. Looking ahead she felt a lurch in her
stomach as she saw a faint splatter of crimson staining the dark street. This was
it, the place she had almost lost her life, the place that Izaak Finch had saved
her life. Hearing footsteps the veela gripped her wand and took a deep breath.

"Is somebody there?" she foolishly said, it was even more foolish of her to be in
the street on her own once again, this is how it had all begun, she had been a
silly little girl, walking the streets alone, the perfect victim and she had done it
all again. Hearing no more footsteps she waited for a response to her question,
she really didn't want to be there any longer, Melodie wanted to run as fast as
she could, run right home and stay safely in the arms of Izaak where she could
be comforted and reassured that that man would never come back again, that
she was as safe as she could be. But in all her senselessness she felt so brave,
since the attack she had therapy, took self defence classes, read up on defence
spells and afforded herself a new wand, one with better protection qualities,
one that would protect her tonight if she got that response to her question.
The young woman watched as a shadow stepped towards her and light hit a
man's face, it was him. She remembered all at once who it was. Her attacker
had come back to face her and she felt a rush of adrenaline. She was ready.

Chase sighed deeply. She didn't seem to remember him, so that was a good thing. He chuckled to himself. He could quite easily just run for it, and she wouldn't be able to find him again. His eyes grew wide when she seemed to remember it all at once, and he couldn't help but want to get out of there. He knew he would be able to take her, just like last time, but he didn't want to have to cause a scene here, it would reveal him, and then the Auror's would start flocking. "Hello, Melodie." Chase said simply. He wanted to stick around and see how much about him he remembered. Though, in the end he would probably regret that choice. He sighed, and smiled maliciously.

"I take it you remember me, then?" He asked, wanting to know how much this meeting with him had reminded her of. He didn't want to think she still had gaps in that memory of hers, he wanted to see exactly how full of rage the simple sight of him could make her. Against all odds, she had recovered, and was walking around. "So, how long've you been out of St. Mungo's for, now?" Chase asked, hoping to keep her busy. He was still all for the idea of not causing too much of a commotion in the streets. If he was going to go to Azkaban today, then he wouldn't have it for life.

As he said her name and stepped forward more light hit him and Melodie's heart
began to race. It was her attacker, be he was more than that. "Chase?" Melodie
questioned, she tried hard to believe it could be him, but how could she? Chase
was her friend, and she would have never believed he could have done what
was done to her. Chase wasn't stupid enough to join the death eaters, but as
he stood before her the veela realised that in fact he was. There was no time
to turn back and run now, Chase was standing right before her, and she knew
if it came down to a fight he would win. Feeling her heart racing once more
Melodie gulped, sending the lump in her throat right down her stomach with
the pain now residing there. Of course she remembered him now as he spoke,
that very voice had brought her to tears as she begged for her life to no avail,
screamed until her throat was hoarse. "You didn't think I'd ever remember"she
said, gaining a slight bit of confidence in the fact that she had survived it,
something he had never expected. She was stronger now, but she was still
weaker than most. As he spoke of St Mungo's she knew he was deliberately
trying to bring back those memories, but she shook her head firmly. She was
strong and she would have to resist his mind games if she wanted to survive.

"I hardly think thats any of your business" she threw back at him as he dared
to question her. Holding her head up high she stepped a little closer to him,
hoping that if it came down to it, from there she was in a good fighting stance.
She took a deep breath in and composed herself, thinking of Aiden and Lucas
safely at home once more, she new she had to stay on top of Chase's game
to make sure her two sons would still have a mother once this encounter was
over. All Melodie wanted was closure, she had recovered slowly but surely,
made a life for herself. She was now a Professor at Hogwarts and she owned
half of the Sugar Mill, she was sitting comfortably in her apartment at Bondi.
She had too much to throw it all away on a silly move like trying to take him
on at his own game, she wasn't that foolish. She wouldn't rest until Chase
Blade was behind bars, it was what the woman needed to have her closure.
"What brings you here Mr Blade" she dared to ask him, a little light chatter
couldn't hurt, could it? She thought as she tightened her grip on her wand.

Chase rolled his eyes at her stupidity. How could somebody so smart, be so helpless, and stupid. She wouldn't last a minute if Chase wanted to kill her now. He didn't want it to have to come to a fight right now, no way did he wanted to fight in a street full of people. He knew there was bound to be Death Eaters nearby though, and there was a good chance they would come to his aid, but he also knew that some Death Eaters really only cared about themselves, so he wouldn't be able to count on them for assistance if it really came down to it. Chase chuckled at her. She could only stall for so long. He wondered if there were Aurors around here. He knew for a fact that some of them did rounds of Bleak Street, but he couldn't be sure.

Chase smiled devilishly. He didn't know whether or not she was joking around, saying all the things that she was. She was either a lot braver then she looked, or she was just extremely stupid. "Yes, Melodie, it's me. I was the one who tortured you. I enjoyed every moment of it, as well." He said, knowing it would be better to just tell her the truth, then to lie to her now. She still knew too much, and now that she had met him again, she was another liability. He sighed at her, and rolled his eyes. Of course she would ask that. He easiest question in the world, and she had to ask it. "Of course I didn't expect you to live. I would have fired a killing curse at you if I hadn't thought you were dead." He said, sighing.

Chase looked at her inquisitively. He couldn't tell if she was being serious still, or just trying to stall for time some more. Maybe she had Aurors following her, and had decided to call them somehow? Chase shook the idea out of his head, the very idea was ludicrous, nobody would consent to following one Professor around all day for no reason. He chuckled, "Melodie, Melodie, Melodie. You've got to stop thinking you can out smart me. What I'm here for, is none of your business, and it has nothing to do, anyway. Or, it didn't have anything to do with you, but now that you've seen me, you can't leave." Chase said, raising his eyebrows. He couldn't afford to get away from here with her memories intact, not this time.

Chase chuckled to himself, and winked at Melodie. He wasn't going to let her get away from here, she would tell a whole lot of people, and he would get him caught and thrown in Azkaban, and he didn't want that, not at all. He had a life, and he had Eden, and he couldn't bear to leave her with nobody. "Goodbye, Melodie." He said, slipping his wand out of his pocket, and raising it towards her. He couldn't let her tell his secret, not now, and not never. He hadn't wanted it to go this far, and he especially hadn't wanted it to have had to have been Melodie. She had been his friend at one point, one of his best. He sighed, and smirked at her. "Avada Ke-" He started, and was stopped when his wand was sent flying out of his hand. He spun around to see who had done it, and was met with a surprise he hadn't expected to see; An Auror.

Number of words: 588

This was perhaps one of the places Amauri would never venture down, just because of what he had heard. Many crazy people were here and he just could not handle going down this road. Though the streets and the shops were just melting with darkness and evil, it gave this Auror the chills. Amauri truly did not like the place, and he did not belong. As if that was not obvious enough. He wore a muggle jacket the color of a black, with a shirt that matched the jacket. His hands were in his pockets as per usual, and his jeans were clean but probably not after he was finished with the strolling down this street. It looked so dirty, it was bound to leave some dirt on him. Amauri’s shoes were making some soft sounds down the street, and his blue eyes gazed about the area. There was nothing he saw here that was needing to be inspected.

Auror Amauri thought of Nastasia and a subtle smile replaced his hard and stone cold face. His cold eyes warmed with the thought. He had to like her, and so many years after having a death eater destroy his family, he needed someone with him now. It had been years and Cyrille wanted him happy. Amauri stopped dead in his tracks when he heard something. Something he was not expecting to hear. Voices that sounded like a man and a woman that did not sound like she belonged in a place like this. It was bad news, and Amauri had to find a way to see what exactly was going on. Amauri walked for a bit, his thoughts a bit frantic with what could possibly be another death. Something that Amauri truly did not want, especially when he could have something done right here and now.

He made his way down the dark alleys that no longer gave him chills when he could be coming across something that made his skin crawl. Amauri’s hand dove into his back pocket, and retrieved his wand from encasement. It was something he knew that he would need. Thus, when he finally arrived, he saw a beautiful young woman, and a young man. Both had to be at least ten years younger than him. In fact, the man looked about the same age as his son. Thank Merlin it was not though. Then, those accursed words came from the man’s mouth. Amauri came in from behind the man, thus just assuming what he appeared from what he could see. With a wave of his wand, a non-verbal spell, and the man’s wand flew from the hand, and it landed on the ground next to Amauri’s shoes. He put his foot upon the wand, in case the young man could summon it.

Amauri did not have a pleasant look on his face, and instantly, he spoke, “You are under arrest for attempted murder.” What he really hoped is that the man would not attempt to run, and he would not have to chase after him like a madman out of hell. A simple task. Could this man attempt to fight an Auror – especially one with about two decades of training and experience – and expect to win? Amauri was in no way cocky, but he was as serious as they came. Amauri glanced over at the woman, and she did not look like she was a bad person at all. There was cases were Death Eaters fought against someone else, but Amauri had no proof that the man was one. Right now, there was just the spell against him, and it was a one way ticket to Azkaban.

Melodie tried her hardest not to lash out at Chase when he informed her that he
enjoyed every moment of her torture. All she wanted to do was punch him, right
in that smug face of his. But she knew better than that, if she did he would get
the better of her, and she knew he was stronger than her, afterall they said the
death eaters were natural born killers, and Melodie believed every word of that.
Chase wouldn't stop talking and that agitated her, the last thing that the veela
wanted to hear was what her fate could have been, she had been foolish and
reckless, too caught up in standing up for Marlana to even think about herself.
"You bastard, you saw what you did to Marlana" she said through her teeth,
hoping he remembered her, her name was Maddiie now, and thank the lord
her daughter had been delivered safely, no thanks to Chase. Her fingers began
to turn white with the tight grip she had around her wand, but Melodie wasn't
letting go now, she wanted to get her revenge, but the only way she could do
that and survive would be to have Chase sent to Azkaban, where he belonged.
The woman truly believed that the young death eater deserved to rot in a cell
for what he did, and she would make sure that he did. Her eyes began to to
glaze over as she watched Chase, resenting every bit of him as she did so.

Before she had a chance to make a move though she watched Chase raise his
wand towards her and bid her farewell. "No!" she called out, but she seemed
to be frozen with fear, she could hardly make a move to save herself, but as
she closed her eyes shut, and prepared for her death she realised that as he
uttered those words that nothing happened. Opening her eyes Melodie was
still standing in Bleak Street, in one piece at that. Looking up she caught a
glimpse of an older man, commanding Chase's wand, resting his foot upon it
to assure that Chase wouldn't have it back. The young woman stared on in
utter shock as the man, who could only have been an auror said those words
that Melodie had wanted to hear ever since the attack, Chase was going to
Azkaban, she was sure of it now. A great emotion seemed to overwhelm the
veela and she found herself running towards the auror and wrapping her arms
around him, she was more than thankful for what he had done for her and she
knew that she could never fully repay him for saving her life as she knew it.

"You saved my life" she uttered, realising she sounded stupid because the man
surely knew what he had done, he didn't need telling. Releasing him she shot
a look towards Chase, she knew he was trapped now and hopefully he would
not dare to escape. Melodie replaced her wand to her back pocket and took
a deep breath in, only realising now that she hadn't taken one in some time.
The initial shock was over now, and she couldn't help but want to get out of
there, go home and just hold her sons, be thankful that she was still alive, and
most likely be lectured by Abathyn and Izaak for being so foolish once again.
Melodie looked up at the auror and waited for him to make the next move,
and hoped he would tell her his name so that she could properly thank him,
it was the least she could do for putting that bastard safely behind locked bars.

Chase looked at the Auror, and scowled. How had he gotten so close, he should have known better. He sighed, and hid the surprise from his face, he couldn't fight the Auror, and he couldn't get away without his wand. He knew better then to go up against impossible odds, but he didn't want to go to Azkaban either. He sighed, and looked towards Melodie, he grinned. "Call me what you want to call me, you can't do anything about the past." He said, chuckling. "Clearly you're fine now, so what's the big deal, and I heard there had been no lasting harm to Maddiie, so it doesn't bother me in the least." He said, shrugging.

Chase didn't know whether he should run, or not, he knew it would only end up worse for himself if he did, though, and he didn't want to be stuck in Azkaban for that long. Chase looked around him, there were probably other Aurors nearby, so he didn't want to have to try and get away, only to be caught again. He shrugged, the Auror didn't even seem to know that he was a Death Eater, he had probably only butted in because he had heard Chase start to say the killing curse. Chase sighed, he hated people who didn't know when to mind their own business. Right now he was glad he didn't have his Dark Mark, else there would probably be a whole lot more Aurors around here, watching him.

Chase turned back to the Auror, and smiled devilishly. "Well, what're you waiting for? There's no point in me running." He said, conceding the point. He wasn't going to run without his wand, and he probably wouldn't get it back after this, so there was no point in him bothering to try and get away, when he would only be found a few minutes later. Chase looked towards Melodie, and rolled his eyes. "I do hope you're happy, now. But you really should be more careful, when you go out for walks." He said, sighing. He had thought this would have been a fairly nice day, how wrong he had been.

Amauri had received the thank you’s from many people, but what surprised him right now was that this young woman that he had just saved ran up and hugged him openly and before things were truly safe. Dark people evil and sick enough to try to use such a spell that Amauri would only use if his own life was at stake could easily turn and fight physically. Amauri told the woman in a soft tone, his French accent lacing with his cold words, “Please wait until this man is contained.” However, there was something about this man that would take Amauri’s mind into a whirlwind. Though he had always been focused on his work, when he actually saw the man, his eyes widened a fraction.

The vibrant blue no longer looked just frustrated and serious, but there is a little bit of confusion. This man, he wasn’t really a man yet. He was just a kid. He looked like he graduated in the same year as his son. It was so odd. Just a kid, using a spell like that. Amauri had never put a kid behind bars, but he had to remember, things were different nowadays. He had to do what he had to. Amauri glanced back at the woman, and he would need to know her name for future references. Figures that young women with physical beauty would attract such attention. Yet, she was not the cause, not in his opinion. She was merely a victim of wrong circumstance.

Why was this boy wanting this woman dead? That was a good question that Amauri wanted an answer to, but this would not be the right place to do so. Instead he listened to the boy’s words, and he narrowed his eyes. Amauri responded, “I have had long experiences with catching people that use those spells and Death Eaters. Most run, or even fight after losing their wands. You however are a peculiar case, the most interesting one I have had in many years.” Amauri kept his wand pointed at the young man. Amauri would need to stop seeing this young man as a kid or else he may soften up to the point of setting him free, and that was something that he just could never do. Not after he had tried to kill this young woman with him. Amauri continued, “You are smarter than some of the idiots I have put behind bars. You do not resist. At any rate,” Amauri waved his wand and cast a spell that sent robes bursting from his wand and zoomed toward Chase Blade at a frightening rate.

This should contain him. Amauri waited to see if they would hit before he would take him off to the Ministry. He spoke once more, but this time to the woman, “I will need to know your name if we need to bring you in to help put this man in Azkaban. I am Amauri Chevalier, in case I do owl you and you would need to know it is I.” Amauri glanced at the man again, and figured that he would say his name later, but now, it was time to take this criminal to Azkaban. He would be spending a long time in there. The killing curse was a harsh curse to perform, and the fact that he had a witness that was an Auror and the victim… The chances of him being free were slim in the mere future.

Melodie glared at Chase, though she knew he was right, she should have been
more careful out walking on her own, but she had known what she was getting
into, she had come here on purpose afterall. Melodie sighed in relief once she
knew that Chase would not be so foolish as to try and run, the auror looked as
though he would be stong enough and fast enough to catch him anyway. She
looked up at him as he spoke, warning her that he needed to properly contain
the death eater before she could properly congratulate him. Standing behind
the older man Melodie listened to them to and fro in conversation, she was
suprised that Chase had not made a run for it, and it sounded as though her
knight in shining armour was too. Letting a little smile spread across her lips
the veela watched as Chase was contained thanks to her knight, she knew
that she was truly safe now, something she had been praying for ever since
she was sane enough. Melodie could now sleep easy, she wouldn't have to
spend another night pacing the nursery, too scared to sleep in case Chase
was to come back and get them in their sleep. Of course she was scared to
sleep because of the nightmares that haunted her, the dark part of the alley
looming over her night after night. She had only just gotten her sons back
after being declared insane at the custody battle, and now she was more
protective of them than ever before. Now that Chase was contained, Melodie
let her self speak to the auror, who called himself Amauri, a lovely name in
her opinion, modest, unique, the man being even more lovely than his name.

A look of concern on her face Melodie spoke quietly, as if she was scared to let
anyone hear her conversation. "Its Melodie, Melodie Lowe" she said in her timid
voice. "This isn't the first time he's done this you know" she told Amauri, if he is
was going down for the attempted murder, it should be a double sentance as far
as she was concerned. "I suppose you have heard what he did to me" Melodie
thought aloud, her case had been all over the newspapers and one could only
assume that the aurors had gotten wind of it in some way or the other. "How
can I ever thank you enough?"
she asked him, he had saved her life and thanks
to him her sons still had a mother, something that could never be fully repaid as
far as she knew. A tear rolled down her pale cheek, a tear of happiness, of relief,
the emptiness in her life was gone, she knew who had done this to her, caused
her so much grief and she knew he wasn't ever going to inflict such pain and
suffering on another woman ever again. He was going behind bars and all that
Melodie wanted was to lock him up and throw away the key, but she knew that
there would have to be a trial, and it was unlikely he would stay there forever
like she wanted. "What next?" she questioned, wanting to know where they
went from here and what they were going to do with Chase for the time being.

"I suppose you have heard what he did to me" Melodie thought aloud, her case had been all over the newspapers and one could only assume that the aurors had gotten wind of it in some way or the other. "How can I ever thank you enough?" she asked him, he had saved her life and thanks to him her sons still had a mother, something that could never be fully repaid as far as she knew. A tear rolled down her pale cheek, a tear of happiness, of relief, the emptiness in her life was gone, she knew who had done this to her, caused her so much grief and she knew he wasn't ever going to inflict such pain and suffering on another woman ever again. He was going behind bars and all that Melodie wanted was to lock him up and throw away the key, but she knew that there would have to be a trial, and it was unlikely he would stay there forever like she wanted. "What next?" she questioned, wanting to know where they went from here and what they were going to do with Chase for the time being.

Chase turned to look from Melodie, back to the Auror. The question he wanted answered most of all, was what would happen next. He had been arrested, and he was going to Azkaban, but he wanted to know for how long. He knew it would be a long time, and he knew there were also a good chance he wouldn't he let out. But, in the end, he wanted to know what was going to happen to his own life. He had the right to know, even though it would be the Wizengamot that decided on his fate, from here, he still wanted some kind of indication that he wouldn't be spending his entire life away from Eden. He was meant to marry her, after all, and he needed to know what would happen, and he needed to tell her what to do. If he was going to be in there for life, then that would be the end of them, and he wasn't going to pretend otherwise.

Chase turned to look at Melodie, and sighed. Of course the Auror wouldn't know what I did to you, stupid girl. The only thing he knows about is that I just tried to kill you. Have you not been paying attention? Chase thought, smirking. Chase only just then became concious of the ropes around him. Now are they really necessary, I've already surrender, and you do have my wand. Chase thought, an edge to his thoughts. He hated it when people did things like that. He thought of them as unnecessary, and a waste of time. Chase hated it when people tried to restrict him, when he had no intention of doing whatever it was they were trying to stop him from doing. Chase struggled against the bindings, trying to make himself comfortable. "These things weren't exactly made for comfort, were they? I could die, and nobody would know." He said, sighing. "And that wouldn't work out very well for you all, you had me in your clutches, and you let me die." Chase said, doing his best attempt at a shrug.

Amauri did not know what Melodie meant by he had done much more than just threaten to kill her. However, he was still new to this place, and did not read the newspapers. Amauri was a traveler, and did not stay in one country for too long, deeming it unnecessary. He felt a wave of relief when he saw that the ropes had successfully tied around the man. Amauri did this out of precaution. Even if the other man did not appreciate it, his comforts and all did not concern the Auror in the least bit. Amauri glanced at Melodie and he smiled gently, “Pleasure to meet you, Melodie. I wish it could have been under better circumstances however.” Though right now, it was not the best time to be introducing each other and talking with some criminal here.

The Auror turned his eyes from the man to Melodie, and he raised an eyebrow. Something else had happened, and he assumed it to be horrific. “Seems like there is more to this than just a killing curse fired at Melodie. I suppose there will be questions deeming of your previous actions. Boy, your trial doesn’t look good,” intoned the Auror. Amauri almost felt bad because this young man was just a boy, and had a long life ahead of him. He had stained it with dark arts and perhaps testosterone? Amauri did not know, nor did he wish to know either. Amauri heard Melodie ask what happened next, and this was where Amauri sighed. He put his wand in his jacket and out of sight, and he frowned. His blue eyes went blank and stern once more.

“Melodie, you go home and sleep soundly tonight. I will have to take him to Azkaban, as it is my duty. Make sure that you are careful on your way home,” said Amauri. He took a step toward the man, whose name he still did not know. He will have plenty of time for that later. He put his hand on the young man’s shoulder, and he stared into the red eyes of the criminal with a cold stare of his own. Amauri wondered what went wrong in this man’s life that caused him to want to kill, want to do such wrong doings? Seeing that he did not freak out when he was blamed, he might have been expecting this. There were so many causes and expectations, there was no telling why this man decided to kill Melodie. Amauri planned to get to the bottom of this.

Amauri concluded, “If you need anything, feel free to owl me or stop by the Auror’s office. If we need anything, I’ll contact you.” That was it. Amauri shook his head. This man, Amauri was saddened by the fact that he had said that if he died, then no one would know about it. Amauri told the man, “I am sure someone would know if you died. The ropes are just for precaution, something I have always done. However, if there is no one to mourn for your now absence to the world, then you might have done something to ensure that no one would. You had a long life ahead, and you just messed it up.” Amauri spoke the blunt truth. With that, Amauri started to walk before he apparated the two of them away, for a long trial ahead that would judge the man and his wrong doings.
There was one thing for certain though. Melodie Lowe would be safe from Chase Blade for a long time.
